Monsoon Wind and EVN Complete 500kV Transmission Line, Achieve Key Milestone in Project Energization.

February 2025 – Monsoon Wind Power Company Limited (MWP) and Vietnam Electricity (EVN) have successfully completed and connected a double-circuit 500kV transmission line, marking a significant milestone in the region’s cross-border renewable energy development. The transmission line spans 27km in Laos, constructed by MWP, and 44km in Vietnam, built by Power Project Management Board 2 (PPMB2) of EVN.

The connection of the transmission lines from both sides was completed on January 2025, paving the way for further energization and commissioning activities. On February 15, 2025, through the collaboration of relevant stakeholders, the project achieved back energization, enabling the commissioning of MWP’s facilities, including the main 500kV substation, 500kV transmission line, internal transmission systems, and wind turbines.

This achievement is a crucial step toward the project’s goal of completing commissioning work and achieving a partial commercial operation (COD) of 300MW by Q2' 2025, followed by full COD of the remaining 300MW, reaching 600MW by Q3' 2025.
